Madison— After six months of raffle ticket sales by Special Olympics Wisconsin around the state, from Lambeau Field to the Kohl Center, the winning name of the 2009 one-of-a-kind custom “Bucky Bike” chopper was drawn from thousands of raffle tickets on center ice at the recent Wisconsin Badgers hockey game on Jan. 17. Dustin Moody of Nekoosa, WI received the lucky call after his name was pulled out by Special Olympics athlete Mark Vroman, who is soon making his trip to the Special Olympics World Games to compete for Team USA in speed skating.
Kwik Trip, a mission partner of Special Olympics Wisconsin, began working with Jeff Bach and 2 Wheel Films of Stoughton, WI, early in 2008 to build the chopper made of 100% CUSTOMIZED Wisconsin parts, bearing UW athletics trademarks, including the ever- popular “Motion W” logo and Bucky Badger. Working alongside Badger Sports Properties, Special Olympics sold raffle tickets at various sporting events, raising more than $42,000 for the 10,000 athletes of Special Olympics Wisconsin.
Special thanks to Kwik Trip, Two Wheel Films and Badger Sports Properties for their fundraising efforts to increase training and competition for the state’s 10,000 individuals with cognitive disabilities.
Three cheers for Green Bay Packer AJ Hawk, the 2008 official spokesperson for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Thank you also to Kwik Trip, the Mission Partner of the organization.
