Athletes As Coaches Virtual Workshop

freeThe Athletes-As-Coaches (AAC) Program is designed to help train and certify Athletes to become coaches in the Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) system.
Dates: Tuesday/Thursday – February 22 and 24
Time: 6:00 – 7:30pm
Additional hands on practicum with local program
Criteria for Involvement:
- Athletes wishing to coach in the SOWI system must be registered and screened as a participant in the AAC program. This is done by completing a Class A volunteer Registration Form, which includes taking the online Protective Behaviors training and background check, as well as the General Coaches Certification (Athlete coaches must be 16 years old or older.)
- Athletes must have a mentor in the AAC process, and have the ability to meet the requirements of being a coach (attendance at practices and competitions, etc.). Local Program Managers may assist the athlete, but the athlete will be responsible for finding a mentor as well as transportation to and from practices and/or trainings as part of this program.
- The athlete, with the help of their mentor, must adhere to all current coaching certification policies.
- In addition, athletes must complete this one-time AAC workshop.
