Become a Class A Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) and making a difference in the lives of the thousands of athletes our program serves! By completing this volunteer application process and becoming a Class A Volunteer, you will assist SOWI in providing a safe and quality environment for Special Olympics athletes to train and compete.
What is a Class A Volunteer?
- Coach or Assistant Coach
- Chaperone
- Local Program/Agency Manager
- Games Management Team Member
- Unified Sports Partner
Items to Note
- All steps must be completed for a volunteer application to be processed.
- Allow up to two weeks for processing of volunteer applications.
- If you are under 18, proceed to Class A Minor Form.

Complete the online Protective Behaviors training and test
The following information is required to complete your application:
- We recently updated our e-learning portal. If you are a returning user, you will need to reset your password. If you are a new learner, please select “Register” and create an account.

Submit the Class A Volunteer Application
The following information is required to complete your application:
- Date of Protective Behaviors test completion
- Copy of State- or Federal-issued Photo ID
- Agency / Young Athletes / UCS Number*
*This number is in the form of #-## (ex. 6-12). You MUST include an accurate Agency Number for your application to be processed. If you have not yet connected with or are unsure of your Agency Number, please contact your local Athletic Director.

Complete an order for a background check through Sterling Volunteers

Complete the SOWI Communicable Disease Waiver Form
The following information is required to complete your application:
ALL STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED FOR A VOLUNTEER APPLICATION TO BE PROCESSED.
