This October, the 1st Annual Titletown Showdown will be held at the iconic City Stadium in Green Bay on October 22. This 6-on-6 flag football tournament fundraiser is an opportunity to play on the same turf as many former Green Bay Packers with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Wisconsin.
The Titletown Showdown is modeled after the “Snow Bowl”, a longstanding fundraising event for Special Olympics New Jersey. Largely supported by John Mara and the New York Giants, the Snow Bowl has generated over $500,000 annually for Special Olympics New Jersey.
“The Titletown Showdown is a unique fundraiser in that it allows individuals to raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin, while playing flag football on an iconic field. It also encapsulates the future of Special Olympics by offering unified play – teaming players with and without intellectual disabilities to participate together for the ultimate feeling of inclusion. This event would not be possible without the wonderful involvement of the Green Bay Packers and Green Bay Packers Give Back. I am excited for the first year of the event and many successful years to come,” said Matt Harper, SOWI Regional Director of Development.
The tournament will be played over one full day with light blocking. Teams are allowed up to 15 players and all players must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Along with the unified teams, divisions will also include law enforcement, recreational and competitive teams. A raffle will be held to win signed Green Bay Packer merchandise.
