On September 24th Olivia Quigley, World Games gold medalist, received the Hometown Hero Award from the Wisconsin State Assembly at the State Capitol in Madison, Wisconsin.
State Rep. Rob Hutton nominated Quigley for the award, “which seeks to recognize individuals from around the state who give themselves to make a difference in our community,” according to the legislators.
In the words of Rep. Hutton, Olivia “dazzled the world” with her perseverance and courageousness at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, winning multiple gold medals in athletics, and continues to do so on a daily basis as she battles with Stage 4 breast cancer.
