Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI)-Greater Milwaukee Region is pleased to announce that SURG Restaurant Group recently signed on as a Regional Games Partner. Through the partnership, SURG Restaurant Group will support local regional, district, and sectional competitions which bring together hundreds of athletes from across the community to compete in Olympic-type sports.
“The Regional Games are at the heart of what Special Olympics is all about, the thrill of competition and the excitement of doing one’s best,” said Dennis Alldridge, President and CEO of SOWI. “We are thrilled to have SURG Restaurant Group support our mission to transform lives through the power and joy of sports.”
From the beginning, SURG Restaurant Group has contributed to many local charitable organizations and invested in the Milwaukee community. As parents, owners Michael Polaski and Omar Shaikh see the value in giving back to the causes they are most passionate about: family and children.
"Special Olympics athletes inspire people around the world to strive to do their best on and off the field. We're honored to add SOWI to the SURG family, alongside our 8-Twelve partners Ryan Braun and Aaron Rodgers, to inspire all athletes in our community," said Shaikh.
SURG Restaurant Group was inspired to establish their own philanthropic organization, the SURG Cares Foundation, after they hosted a benefit for the children of the Azana Spa tragedy that took place in Brookfield. The mission of the SURG Cares Foundation is to support the Milwaukee community.
"The SURG Cares Foundation is proud to help Special Olympics Wisconsin cheer on these athletes," added Polaski.
